Stop Spinning Your Wheels

“Spinning your wheels,” is a phenomenon we often observe in staff members who are unsure of what they should be doing but don’t ask for help to get back on track. They project a sense that they are busy but in reality are making little progress toward their goal. This course is about helping them understand why they spin their wheels and providing them with concrete actions to address the root causes of the problem.

Learning Objectives

After completing this module the auditor will be able to:

  • Identify the root causes of spinning one’s wheels.
  • Apply best practices for clarifying expectations at the beginning of an assignment.
  • Recognize beliefs they may have about asking for help at work that may be detrimental to their career advancement.
  • Create messages and messaging strategies that allow them to effectively ask for help and further guidance in a timely fashion.
  • Expand their network of peers they can call on for help.

Major Topics

Many auditors now work in a remote or hybrid environment where the chances to spin ones wheels have only increased. This course can address those issues raised by the remote work environment. This course is built around a three part case study that requires participants to evaluate a real world scenario and apply what they learn in the classroom.
