Audit With a Purpose

This course is a good fit for less experienced auditors who may be performing audit procedures without a true understanding of the purpose of those procedures. This course will help these participants be more effective and efficient in the field, cutting down on review notes and completing their assignments more quickly. Just as importantly, this module give you a chance to instill in these participants the confidence that they know what they’re doing. Many young professionals lack that confidence and are reluctant to ask for help. This module is an opportunity for you to help build that.

Learning Objectives

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Apply the audit risk model to understand the purpose behind an audit procedure.
  • Link an audit procedure to the type of error it is designed to discover.
  • Get answers to questions about audit procedures you have or will perform and whose purpose you don’t fully understand.

Major Topics

This is a highly interactive course. It begins by asking the participants to work in small groups to explain the purpose of common audit procedures. You will then use their examples to demonstrate how the audit risk model can be applied to help them ask the question “why am I doing this?”
The module ends with two activities to help drive home the learning objectives.
