Applying Ethics in the Real World – 2026 Virginia Approved

In today’s fast-paced environment, we are constantly encountering ethical issues and dilemmas. We are frequently faced with situations containing competing pressures – timely vs. accurate, legal vs. moral, short-term vs long-term. It’s not only what we do that matters but how we do it, which is just as important. Learn to think about ethics from a pro-active perspective to avoid becoming tomorrow’s ethical failure. Using current case studies, we will identify the ethical issues, develop alternate courses of action, and consider potential consequences of those actions. And we will discuss ways to build your moral courage to stand up to the pressures.

This course will start with the 2026 Virginia Board of Accountancy video addressing the most current issues of concern. The remainder of the course will outline the challenges we face with right-vs-right dilemmas. We will analyze recent cases from multiple perspectives to identify the stakeholders, pressures, and faulty thinking that led to ethical failures.
