Compliance Project Package – Individual Taxation

Transitioning from an academic environment to practice in public accounting can be difficult. The entry level tax staff needs to understand the reality that in tax practice, the information needed to solve a problem will not be provided to them like it is in most academic textbook problems. This course will allow the participant to be engaged in a realistic tax situation that presents compliance and planning opportunities.

Learning Objectives

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Select documents and identify which information is relevant for the tax scenario (W-2, Form 1099, divorce agreements, Schedule K-1, etc.)
  • Recall a basic Form 1040
  • Select tax planning opportunities to discuss with clients

  • Introduce participants to common tax reporting forms they will use in practice (Form 1040, Schedule 1, Schedule A, Schedule C, etc.)
  • Understand the flow of common tax forms and schedules
  • Prepare a basic individual tax return
