Advanced Corporate Taxation

This course focuses on corporate tax issues for related corporations. We cover the rules for controlled groups and affiliated groups that elect to file a consolidated return. The course also reviews qualified tax-deferred reorganizations including the tax consequences to the corporations and shareholders. Planning implications around limitations on using NOLs and earnings & profit after a merger are also explained.

Learning Objectives

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Assess appropriate restrictions to tax benefits for controlled groups.
  • Evaluate rules for filing consolidated tax returns.
